San Francisco is situated between Turbo and Capurganá and this little paradise is awaiting you.
This area is actually mentioned as a “No-Go-Area” in all travel guide books. Only a handful of travelers have seen or heard of this place.
Due to changing times, you have the opportunity to experience this amazing and unexplored part of Colombia for the first time.
Waiting for you is a tiny village with no streets, cars or motorcycles... just 3 Tiendas and 6 hours of electricity per day. This hidden jewel is protected on one side by the Caribbean Sea and on the other side by breathtaking rainforests and mountains, all the way to the Pacific Coast.
The rich diversity of fauna and flora will be an unforgettable symphony for your senses.
Things you will need: insect repellent, sun screen and a flashlight.
Things you can do: swim in the ocean or take a bath in one of the countless rivers, fishing, kayaking, hiking or horseback riding. Watch the giant tortoises lay their eggs in spring and see them hatch and run into the sea in June, on the beautiful, 12 kilometer long beach called Playona.
I recommend excursions to this remote areas, where you can see how the indigenous people of Colombia are still living.
Of course, you can always just sit back and relax on our sundeck and enjoy the hostel’s cuisine, bake your own bread, learn how to make home-made pasta or prepare your own dish in our kitchen.
